Things to do in the Garden Route
Using Kurland as your base, conveniently situated 25 minutes away from the airport in Plett, the Garden Route offers endless spaces and places to explore. Soak up the sun on the unspoiled beaches of Nature’s Valley, and wine and dine in Plett’s trendiest new eateries. With Plett’s reputation as the up-and-coming champagne-style wine region of South Africa, there are also numerous wine farms in the region to visit. Once you’ve had your fill of the vineyards, the fauna and flora in the region are ready to delight with unique experiences such as whale watching, walking, birding, and biking.
Visit a Wine Estate
The new ‘Wine of Origin Plettenberg Bay Region’ is in fact touted the up-and-coming champagne-style wine region of South Africa. Located closed to the ocean, the areas geographic and cooler climate conditions are actually similar to those of the renowned Marlborough region of New Zealand, and is particularly favourable to growing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes for the production of MCC (Methode Cap Classique) sparkling wines

Tenikwa Wildlife Awareness Centre
Offers a truly unique wildcat experience. Guests are taken on a guided tour to meet captive-bred felines living in a semi-natural environment.

The Elephant Sanctuary
Home to six African elephants in a beautiful indigenous forest setting. All programmes are fully guided which makes for a truly enriching experience. Booking is advisable and the property is wheelchair friendly, flat walking shoes and sun hats are recommended.

Golfing on the Garden Route
Plettenberg Bay Country Club is a popular destination for tourists; the main attraction being the challenging layout built to USGA specifications, and is rated in the TOP 50 in South Africa.

The Goose Valley Country Club is only 4km from Plettenberg Bay, bordering on the Keurbooms Lagoon, access to the Club is from the N2 and offers a Gary Player designed 72 par, 18-hole signature golf course.
The area also offers hiking trails, surfing, fishing, kayaking – a true sports and adventure playground.

A wide variety of interesting and creative crafts and flavours. The market is on the N2 halfway between Knysna & Plett.
Wednesday Fresh Produce Market
Every Wednesday 9am-12pm
Why not taste fresh locally grown food produced by local farmers, breeders and picklers. The Plett Market is on Main Street, next to the Tourism Office.
Whale Watching
Season
The Southern Right Whale visits from June – November.
The Humback Whale visits from May – June and November – January.
Bryde’s Whales, Orcas, Bottlenose and Humback Dolphins and Cape Fur Seals can be seen all year round.
