There’s a lot to love about visiting Plett over the festive season – beautiful weather, lazy beach days, bustling restaurants and wine farms, and a busy, action-packed polo season.

The Plett Polo Club is based on our estate. It is widely considered the leading polo club in the country, if not the entire African continent. So, for those days when you want to swap sea and sand for stomping divets, there is a full programme on offer to keep you (and the kids) entertained.

  • 13 – 19 December: Intro Tournament
  • 13 – 23 December: Summer Cup 12 Goal and the Shamwari Cup 4 Goal
  • 17 – 19 December: Kids Clinic
  • 18 December: Kids Clinic braai
  • 20 – 23 December: Intro Tournament
  • 27 December – 2 Jan: Ladies Tournament
  • 29 December: Plett Polo Festival
  • 27 December – 8 January: Formosa Cup 10 Goal and 4 Goal
  • 2 January: Ladies 18 – 20 Goal Exhibition Match
  • 3 – 8 January: Intro Tournament
  • 9 – 15 January: Kurland Cup 8 Goal, 2 Goal and Intro
  • 15 January: End of Season Party

 

Tournaments

With the rest of the polo world going back to the original format, Plett Polo will be following suit and reintroducing full length chukkas and lineouts. Tournament matches up to and including the 12 Goal will be 4 chukkas, lineouts will be reintroduced, and we will be swapping ends after each goal is scored. We will continue playing HPA rules this season, and the following fields will be used for the tournaments: Kurland, Kurland Park, Rhone Hill (Stonefield), Mabelstone and Jaeger.

 

Kids Clinic

The Kids Clinic will run from 17-19 December with a fee of R1500 per child for the weekend. Horse rentals are available at R1200 per horse for the weekend. Beginners will only need 1 horse, intermediate players will need 2 horses and the advanced players are advised to have 3-4 horses. For more details and to book a spot, email polo@plettpolo.co.za
