The beauty of Kurland is that you’re in charge of your experience. You set the pace, and you decide whether the agenda of the day should be delightfully languid, or action-packed. We have such a mixed bouquet of things to do that the most taxing part of your day might just be deciding which one to partake in first…
The heart of Kurland lies in the equestrian lifestyle and the famous polo matches that are held on the fields. Whether you’re a horse lover and avid polo fan, or you’re new to the whole experience, it’s something everyone should enjoy at least once in their lifetime. Horse riding on the estate (for you and the kids) can also be arranged.
Exploring the beauty of the estate from two wheels on the dedicated mountain bike trails that criss-cross the estate is a must. You’re also perfectly positioned in Plett to enjoy the vast array of trails that stretch across the area and continue until Knysna. If you’re an avid cyclist, this is mountain biking heaven.
Taking the dogs for a long walk on the estate will show you just how big (and varied) the property is. You’ll pass generous vegetable gardens and thriving beehives along the way. If you want to venture further afield, Plett and Nature’s Valley are famous for their beautiful hikes, most notably for being the end point of the renowned Otter Trail.
An afternoon at the dam is time well spent, if not for the beautiful views and nature’s soundtracks, but also in the hope that you’ll catch one of the big bass swimming in the dam.
There’s a beautiful tennis court on the estate for guests to use, including tennis rackets. Just bring your A-game.
Beautiful picnic spots are plentiful on the estate. Pack a book and some blankets, and challenge the kids to find the perfect place to set up. You can either gather your ingredients from the many foodie hotspots in and around Plett (including local wines), or we can make up a picnic basket for you, upon request.
Whether it’s the pristine beaches of Plett or Nature’s Valley, the farm dam, your own private plunge pool, the spa’s sparkling blue pool or the Homestead’s central pool, we’ve got you covered when it comes to cooling down on a hot summer’s day.
